suyeda:

I just watched the documentary The Drop Box (2015) and I was moved by the love and selflessness of Pastor Lee Jong-rak, his wife, kids, and volunteers.

The Drop Box is a documentary that follows Pastor Lee Jong-rak, his family, and a number of volunteers raise abandoned children – most of them having either a mental or physical disability.

Korea, like many other countries in the world, have infants and children abandoned in the streets due to their parents inability or unwillingness to raise their children for one reason or another. Pastor Lee took it upon himself to create an anonymous alternative for the young parents (60% of the time they were underage) to put their baby in the ‘drop box’ of his church. Pastor Lee, his family, and volunteers would take it upon themselves to raise these ‘unwanted’ children in a loving environment. It was so heartwarming to see how many lives are touched by these children.

Without spoiling many of the very sweet moments of the film, I highly recommend watching this documentary. Even if you are not Christian (I am not), you can and will admire the selflessness and passion of these people to raise these children as their own.
